SMALL-GROUP STORYTELLING WORKSHOPS
Your stories. A place to create them together.
Bring your photographs, letters, keepsakes, and memories. In these small, in-person workshops, I’ll guide you as you write the stories behind them and build your own personal website. Learn at your own pace, exchange ideas, and get to know others through the stories you choose to share.
Start with
one story
YOUR FIRST STEP
You don’t need to arrive with a complete family history. Bring a few photographs, letters, or keepsakes that spark memories. Choose one and begin writing—with guidance, encouragement, and room to see where the memories lead.
What we’ll do together
INSIDE THE WORKSHOP
Write the stories behind your photographs
Who was there? What happened? Why do you remember it? Use photographs, letters, and keepsakes to write short recollections, with prompts and guidance to help you find the words.
Write at your own pace, exchange ideas, and share a memory if you wish. Get to know the people around the table through the stories they choose to tell.
Create alongside others
Learn to scan photographs and documents, photograph objects, and transfer existing images or videos. I’ll help you organize the digital files for your website.
Prepare your images and materials
Build your personal website
Learn to create pages and bring your images and writing together. Arrange stories around people, places, or themes—and rearrange them as your collection grows.
If you’re interested, I’ll show you how AI can suggest questions, help organize your thoughts, and support editing. You choose what to use, keeping your recollections and voice your own.
Explore AI as a writing tool
Learn how to manage access to your website and decide who can view it. You’ll also practice adding new stories so you can keep building after the workshop.
Choose how to share
The beginnings of your own personal website, with photographs and written recollections brought together. You’ll learn how to add more stories and images, arrange your collection, and choose who can view it, with the skills to continue at your own pace.
What you’ll take away
Bring your laptop and charger, along with five photographs, letters, documents, or small keepsakes that spark memories. Existing digital images and videos are welcome too.
For in-person workshops, scanners and a photo light box for small objects will be available. For Zoom workshops, have your digital files ready; I can guide you in photographing items with your phone.
I’ll help you set up your website during the workshop. An ongoing website subscription is separate from the workshop fee.
