YOUR MEMORIES, PRESERVED
Let’s Tell Your Story
I work with you personally, from our first conversation through interviews, scanning, photography, writing, and website creation. We agree on the scope and cost before work begins. You review the content, and I handle the preparation and publishing.
We begin with a conversation
THE FIRST STEP
We’ll talk about what you’d like your website to become. You don’t need to have everything sorted or know exactly where to begin.
01 — Your purpose
What would you like to preserve, and who would you like to share it with?
02 — Your materials
We’ll consider what you have, how much there is, and what needs scanning, photography, recording, or writing.
03 — Your plan
We’ll discuss your priorities and budget. I then prepare an estimate outlining the work, cost, and timing for your review and agreement before work begins.
From memories to a website
HOW IT WORKS
01 — Record and digitize
We explore selected photographs, documents, or objects together. I ask questions and record your recollections. Your original items stay with you. We arrange scanning or photography as needed.
02 — Create your pages
I shape your recollections into written stories, prepare captions and descriptions, and design pages that bring your images, words, and videos together.
03 — Review and keep building
You review the pages, check the details, and approve what’s shared. We continue adding stories and materials at an agreed pace, arranging and rearranging your collection as it grows.
In person or online
WORKING TOGETHER
We can record your recollections through phone or Zoom conversations and work with photographs, documents, and videos you already have in digital form. If original items need scanning or photography, we’ll discuss the best arrangement. That may include a visit from me or help from a local photographer.
Any travel or local photography costs are discussed and agreed before booking.
A lasting record of your collection
PERSONAL COLLECTIONS
I photograph selected items and bring together their descriptions, acquisition details, personal histories, and available supporting records. Receipts, ownership documents, and existing appraisals can sit alongside each item, creating an organized reference for you and those who may care for the collection later.
Your collection stays with you. Photography is arranged on your premises, either with me or an agreed local photographer.
A Few Practical Questions
-
Each project is individually estimated based on the materials, interviews, writing, digitization, and website work involved. We agree on the scope, cost, and timing before work begins. Website and domain subscriptions are separate. Any travel or outside photography costs are agreed in advance.
-
Your website is set up in your own account, with you as the account owner. You give me access to create and update it. You pay the website and domain subscriptions directly and retain access if our work together ends.
-
Yes. Your website can be public or password protected. You decide who receives the password, and we choose the access settings together.
-
No ongoing subscription to my service is required. You can choose to pause or finish after any agreed phase. You remain responsible for work already completed and any agreed expenses. Your website can stay online as long as you maintain its subscriptions.
-
Your original items stay with you. The approved images, writing, and other selected materials become part of your website. I retain interview recordings and working files while your project is active. Before work begins, we agree on how long these files will be kept and when they will be deleted.
-
Yes. A family member can contribute photographs, documents, and recollections. We agree on who reviews and approves the content. You can also give a trusted person permission to help manage the website and arrange for them to take over its ownership and subscriptions in the future.
-
I document the information and materials you provide, including family records, ownership histories, receipts, and existing appraisals. Genealogical research, valuations, and authentication are not included.
Let’s start with your story.
Tell me a little about the family photographs, documents, or treasured collection you’d like to preserve. We can talk about where to begin and what creating your website together could look like.
